Today I am going to explain a recently released movie called Queen of spades. The movie starts on Friday where we see four teenagers in a park whose names are Sebastian, Anna, Kate and Mathew. Sebastian and Mathew had a Youtube channel, they were discussing new prank ideas. Anna was a 13-year-old girl and Kate was her kind of a baby sitter. Anna's mother was a single mother, and she was always busy with her work. That's why she hired Kate. Now Anna saw a boy on the roof of the community center next to the park, he was on the edge. Anna gets scared and asks everyone to look there. All of a sudden, that boy jumps off the roof. All the kids ran to see him where he was suffering on the ground. The building was only two floors, that's why he didn't die, he was semi-conscious. These kids now saw a mark of infection on his hand. That boy now starts saying a phrase. "The queen of spades, show yourself. The kids don't understand anything, so they simply call for an ambulance. Later the boy dies in the hospital.
All these kids lived in the same apartment. The next day on Saturday night they hangout in Katy's house. That's when Sebastian tells about the Queen of Spades. He had searched that phrase on the internet. He says the Queen of Spades is a Russian folktale. Here you have to find the Spades of Queen card from the pack of cards and put it in front of the mirror. Turn off all the lights in the room and light a candle in front of a mirror. By making a drawing of a door and a staircase from lipstick on a mirror, one has to call the name Queen of Spades. Then the Queen of Spades will make one's wish come true. Kate starts laughing after hearing this and thinks it as a stupid folktale. Anna asks who the Queen of Spades is, and Sebastian says, according to legends, the Queen was a rich Russian lady who lived in the early the 19th century. Over time she became bankrupt, and for sustenance she opened an orphanage. She turned her mansion into an orphanage. She started taking money from the government and people in its name. Instead of taking care of the children, she secretly started killing them and siphoning of the money.
One day all the people of the city came to know about this. They grabbed her, beat her and tortured her. They slit her throat and threw her body in the river. Since then she became a ghost cam legend, some people have believed that the queen is haunting. If she were in a good mood, then she would fulfill the wishes of people who called her name. And if her mood is bad, then she will hunt, torture and kill people. Sebastian says she is a type of a psycho ghost where mood swing is deadly. L O L.
Mathew wanted to set this ritual for his Youtube channel, and he started requesting Anna for it. As according to the website, only the youngest child among a group can call her. Among these four people, Anna was the youngest, and she agreed to it. Sebastian starts recording the video. Anna turns off the room light, lits a candle and makes the drawing of the door and staircase on a mirror. Both Anna and Kate starts calling the Queen's name. Anna asks for her wish, but nothing happens. Here the silence was everywhere. Then Mathew suddenly comes and does a prank. He shouts makes both the girls scream in fear like hell. Sebastian was recording this whole ritual who says perfect. He and Mathew had thought this prank for their channel. They were doing all this for the video. Later Kate scolds both of them as Anna was horribly scared.
At night Anna doesn't sleep properly as she is still in fear. Now the day turns into Sunday. Next morning Anna fights with her mom, Mary, as she was going out again for work. Marry was a single mom, she was working really hard for ends meet. Anna was too young to understand all this. During the day we see Mathew at Anna's house, he was visibly very scared. He asks Anna weather she is hearing some voices, he shows her his forehand where the infection was growing. He now believed in the Queen's story and was scared as this type of infection was on that boy's hand who committed suicide.
Anna was angry with him for that prank, hence she ignores him. She goes swimming as usual. Mathew follows her there, as Anna was swimming coolly, Mathew looked at a mirror beside the pool. Something strange starts to happen there, Mathew gets possessed, he shouts and falls down. Anna and her instructor rushed in with a CPR kit, but it was too late. At seventeen, Mathew was dead with a heart attack.
Anna and the rest of the kids were shocked after this. They now believed in the story of the queen. Anna tells this story to her mother, and she starts covering her room's mirror. Apparently, the Queen used to travel through mirrors. Now it's Monday. Sebastian contacts an expert named Smirnnov who was a Canadian Russian who did the research on Queen. He wrote an elaborate book on the Queen. Simirnov's son was also killed by the Queen. Since then he has been doing research about her. He tells Sebastian that it is too late, and now she'll kill you all. All my solutions in the book to get rid of the Queen are just theories. He suggests that they cover mirrors as well.
Mary now meets Sebastian and Kate to discuss their prank. Sebastian explains everything to her, but Mary dismisses it as stupid kids act, and she scolds them. She removes the cover of Kate's room's mirror in anger and leaves. But Sebastian puts it back anyway. Later that night Kate came to Anna's house for babysitting.
Anna was making tea where she saw a black shadow in the reflection of the teapot. While only she and Anna were there in that room. Later that night Mary arrives at midnight from her shift. She saw two feet in Anna's room who suddenly slipped under the bed. When Mary looked down, there was no one but the drawing book of Anna. Just then Mary heard Anna's scream where Anna was standing in front of a mirror.
Anna begs for help when two hands from the mirror start smothering her. That's when Mary saw another Anna who was standing some distance away. This Anna tells Mary that she is not real. The ghostly hand from the mirror drags the first Anna inside the mirror as Mary screams in shock. Just then we realize that it was just a dream of Mary where she was screaming in fear.
On Tuesday we see Mary and Anna together at Mathew's funeral ceremony. Here Sebastian shows his hand where the infection started to flare up. Then a lady starts shouting and crying. She says this boy, Mathew, did not die due to a heart attack. It was the Queen, she killed my son too. She points a finger at Mary and warns her as well. Mary and the kids get even more scared after this incident. Later Sebastian shows Mary that video, I mean the one for the Youtube channel. Upon playing that clip at a really slow speed, Sebastian found the image of the Queen in the video itself. They really summoned the Queen. Mary gets shocked seeing this.
A way to avoid the Queen curse was written in Simirnov's book. For that a seance session was needed. A walkie-talkie was required to know the answers from the Queen, where questions were supposed to be in a yes and no format. Everyone try this. They start by offering their belongings. Anna places her dad's gift ring as an offering. The rest also offer something belonging to them. Sebastian starts asking the questions. Is she going to kill him, will she kill Anna and Katy too? The answer to both these questions comes in yes through the walkie-talkie. Hearing this, Anna runs away in fear. Mary now takes Simirnov's book from Sebastian for further study and leaves for work at night.
Now Sebastian returns to his apartment. He was in the bathroom to clean his infection, there suddenly the water in his bath tub turned black. One hand comes out of the water and grabs Sebastian into it. He dies by drowning in his own tub. His body was taken out in an ambulance, which Anna and Katy also saw. Anna was frightened, she called Mary and told her to come home. When Mary arrives at home, Kate in anger bursts at her and says she's not a good mom. As during this whole month she was with Anna more than Mary was. Late that night the cover on Anna's room's mirror gets flown due to strong wind from the window. Which transforms that mirror as a portal. We see an image of a forest in it.
Anna wakes up in horror, then the Queen herself shows up, she starts calling Anna's name. Anna was petrified after seeing and hearing this, she screams and falls down. The next day was Wednesday.
Mary takes out Simirnov's address from the Internet and goes to visit him. On the way Mary asks Anna about her wish. Anna says I wished for you. Meaning, Mary was always busy with her work and was unable to give proper time to Anna. Anna was missing her mother. Outside Simirnov's house, Anna was waiting in the car, there she suddenly heard her voice again by the Queen. She runs from there. Inside the Simirnov's house, he explains the attacks of the Queen of Spades from the 19th century to 1998. In 1964 a student died in a camp site, three of his remaining friends gave a statement that a lady in the mirror killed him.
After a few days they too died with an infection on their forehand. In 1984 three girls died in a similar way. Simirnov's son was also killed by the Queen in 1998. Anna was now roaming around in Simirov's house, she suddenly saw the Queen again in one of the mirrors. She starts screaming where Mary and Simirnov cover up the mirror.
Later we see Kate who wakes up from a nightmare. Now she also had a mark of infection on her hand. Simirnov arrives at Anna's house where Anna was attacked again. The queen was using her ring as a source. Simirnov removes it. He opens the cover on one of the mirrors and starts taking photos of it. According to him, the old analog cameras with aluminium film used to capture more of the electromagnetic spectrum than the digital cameras. He wanted to take a picture of the Queen to prove his point of her existence. As he was taking photos with Mary, they heard the scream of Anna. She was possessed. Simirnov takes photos there and later shows it to Mary. There the image of the Queen was visible, she was right besides Anna.
Noe Kate arrives at Anna's house with her cat. Simirnov asks them to do the same ritual again as they did before. He had brought a parrot with him which was sensitive to ghosts cum demonic entities. Meaning, the parrot used to make noise whenever it was near such things. Simirnov asks both the girls to offer their favorite things. Anna offers her ring and Kate offers her cat. Ohh poor thing, don't accept loyalty from humans. This time again Anna called the Queen by drawing the lipstick on the mirror. The Queen picks her up and possess her. The room lights start to flicker. Kate runs away, but Anna offers her ring. After a few moments everything became normal, and the ring disintegrates into the air. The parrot was dead. The next day was Thursday.
Anna stood in front of a clear mirror where all she could see was her face. Simirnov thinks that the queen is gone. But we will know more about that a little later. Anna, Katy and Mary thanks Simirnov. As Mary went away to drop Simirnov off, Kate was relaxed. She thought this whole episode was over. Alas, she was wrong. The queen didn't go anywhere, she came out of the mirror dimension and possessed Anna during the ritual. Now Anna's eyes turn white, and she indiscriminately attacks Kate with a knife. Kate runs away and hides in a room, she calls Mary.But it was too late. Possessed Anna kills Kate.
When Mary and Simirnov arrive, she attacks them too. Simirnov seized her and gave her an injection. He tied her to the bed and later told Mary that the Queen was in her body. The only way to get her out is by clinically death. Clinical death means stopping the heart for up to 3 minutes. She could be revived with CPR within 3 minutes. Anna has to be given a dose of sodium Pentothal, which will stop her heart for a few minutes. Then the Queen will come out, and she needs a living soul. He now keeps Kate's cat to be kept in a bird's cage. He wanted the Queen to possess that cat. Possessed Anna was hearing all this, she makes a ruckus, she blames Mary for killing her.
She abuses her. Here Mary agrees as there was no other option. Simirnov injects the injection, anna loses her courage, but her eyes were still white. Mary doesn't see this plan working, so she goes to do a deal with the Queen. She asks her to possess instead of Anna. Here Simirnov stops her and asks himself to be possessed. Here we see the cat screaming and the shadow of the Queen coming out. Now the queen was possessing Simirnov who shouts at Mary to take Anna away from him. Mary does the same, she takes Anna near the swimming pool, there she runs the CPR machine on her which kick starts Anna's heart. Simirnov was struggling with possession, he lost his control and the queen possessed him. Just when May was moving Anna, Simirnov's body fell from above. The Queen made him commit suicide.
The story now moves forward 6 months. Anna was living happily in some other place. Today was her 14th birthday. Now we see Kate's cat here whose eyes now turns white. With this, the film ends. Let's look at Kate's cat whose eyes had turned white in the end. It seemed Siminrov commited suiside on his own. He thought that if he commits suicide, then the Queen will also vanish. But the Queen here was smart, she switched the body with a cat just before the jump.This was the story of the film, Queen of Spades. It's a low-budget independent film.The story of this movie is inspired by Russian author Alexander Pushkin's short story by the same name. He wrote this story in the year 1833. Inspired by this very story, many movies and web series have also been made.
