Studio 666 ( 2022 ) Ending Explained | Movie Spoilers
Today I am going to recap and explain the recently released film called studio 666. The film starts in Encino California in the year 1993. We see a hillside villa house which had lots of musical instruments. Inside we see a crawling lady whom a guy with a cap brutally kills. Then the story moves forward to the present day where we see a rock and roll band called Foo Fighters. Dave was the lead, Krug drummer, Chris lead guitarist, Pat guitarist, Nate bassist, Rami keyboardist, and Tylor drummer. A guy called shill was this band's producer who was pissed as these guys were not producing new albums. Dave tries to dodge the bullet by saying the new songs are in their mind and they just need a place to record them. By their attitude, it was clear that they were not at all serious. Shill was neck-deep in debts hence he forces the band to record their new album and finish it early.
He sends them to the same villa which we saw at the beginning. It was in a ruined state as nobody rented it out for many years. Barbara a real estate agent gives the tour of the villa while narrating little history. She says in the 70s and 80s lots of bands use to rent this place, in 90s a band rented out this place but unfortunately, under mysterious circumstances they all died here. This made Dave a little excited as it seemed perfect for heavy dark metal-like music. He claps a few times to check the sound vibe here and with each clap, we see a few images. A guy committing suicide, the cap guy killing the lady, etc. Meaning this place clearly had some dark side.
Later Dave asks Krug to tune the drums, he keeps him tuning until the drum's sound matches the Deathly vibe he was experiencing here. This makes Krug a little irritated. Later Dave calls a group meeting where he tells everyone that they will be making their 10th album here. He wanted to stay here for a couple of weeks. Everyone agrees and selects their room.
Later while practicing Dave saw a guy who was cutting the bushes. He tried to talk with him and tried stopping him, but that guy vanished into the bushes without leaving a clue. This made Dave confused. These guys were setting up their recording when Krug observes the mess of wires. As he was cleaning it up we see a black hand moving across it. The very next moment Krug got a powerful current shock, and even before anybody can do anything he was dead. After this, the crew decides to leave the place thinking this is a bad omen but Dave convinces them the stay. He says we can dedicate the song to Krug's memory. After this, to cheer up everyone Dave starts to grill the meat where suddenly he sees Krug's face grilling.
Dave was scared seeing this but in reality, everything was normal. sometime later Dave again heard the sound of grass cutting, this time he decides to catch that Gardner. Here we see a lady called Samantha who was making that sound for attention. She says she's a fan of a few brothers and she lives adjacent to this villa. Dave asks her whether she ever saw a gardener here. To which Samantha says this house is in ruin and nobody lives here.
After this Dave tries to make a new tune for the new song but he was sucking at his. His tunes were his old hits. In frustration, he plays a soft tune which turned out to be Lionel Richie's song. Lionel softly asks him to stay the hell away from his best song. In the next scene, we see Dave on his bed where the ghost of Krug's ghost attacks him. Krug says they are watching you. Next Dave's surrounding goes dark, we see many demonic entities who attack Dave and tear him up. Dave wakes up in horror as this was just his nightmare. Later he orders meat and a delivery guy arrives to deliver it.
The guy says I am a huge fan and you are my second favorite band after cold play. I am a sort of artist myself, if you are interested then I can show you my recording. This makes Dave furious, he shouts him out. Later he tries to learn songwriting by watching a course. Just then he hears a water tapping sound, upon checking thee was no leakage from the tap. Yet the sound was there. He follows the sound across the house and ends up in the basement. This room seemed like a black magic, occult player's workshop. There a raccoon was hanging by the neck from which blood was dipping.
A tapping sound was coming from this. Here Dave observes Gardner's scissors, an old recorder, and a few records. When He plays one, a piece of hard-hitting heavy metal music starts playing. After a few minutes, it stops and a demonic jibberish voice started playing. The room starts to shake, blood started pouring into the blub, and the whole room was lit with red light. A guy with a cap and many demonic entities appears in front of Dave. They all enter his body. After this Dave walks out normally from here. Outside he bumps into Pat who asks him what was he doing here, at this hour. Dave just ignores him.
Next Dave had made a tube which he recites to everyone. While playing the guitar he plays a note which emits a demonic kind of sound. He calls this a note L sharp. He says this will be his song's major key, which left others confused. As in music, there is no such thing as L sharp. These guys started recording, just then Samantha knocks on their doors with cookies. Dave tries to shoo her off but Rami welcomes her. He starts to flirt with her. Samantha observes Dave's changed behavior, she warns Rami. She says this house is evil. Before she could tell more Dave drags Rami away.
Now the story moves three weeks further. The crew has not finished the songs as Dave was not satisfied with the song. They have recorded a 33-minute long song yet Dave was not satisfied. Dave's behavior had changed drastically, he was more aggressive and bossy. One midnight he wakes up everyone and demands that they start recording. It was late, everyone was tired hence Pat refuses. Dave angrily charges at him, which terrifies Pat. Pat sees Dave's demonic version.
The next day rest of the crew started chatting about Dave's erratic behavior, they planned to leave the band in mass. Just then Dave apologizes to them and somehow convinces all. Then all start recording again, Dave starts editing it. In the evening we see the meat delivery guy again as Dave had ordered it. The delivery guy sees the cap guy in the garden. As soon as went there to meet him, the capped guy kills him. Dave picks up the delivery which was at his doorstep. Everyone starts dinner, Dave had ordered raw meat for himself which he was eating like a wild animal. The crew was shocked to see this.
The next day Barbara pays a visit to check on these guys. The house was a mess. She sees Pat's body lying beside what seemed to be the blood. Just then Pat wakes up and says good morning. It was the red wine and he was alive. Pat picks up three-week-old cookies, as he finishes them. He sees Samannth's hidden message there. It was saying the sacrifice. Next, we see the crew recording as Dave was not satisfied with his song. He insists on finishing it in a different way which makes everyone furious. Chris angrily threw his guitar and left the room. He starts grilling sandwiches when he experiences something strange. Suddenly someone or something attacks him from behind and kills him.
Later we see Dave in a possessed state with demonic entities, implying he was the killer. Just then everyone heard the screams of Pat who was looking at the body of the delivery guy. He was brutally murdered, and his body parts were out in open. Dave stops them from calling cops as they would have converted this place into a crime place which will stop his recording. He insists on finishing the song and then informing the cops. Everyone somehow agrees. Dave keeps their phone and van keys with himself. These guys start recording again.
During lunchtime, Pat shares the message with others. These guys meet Samantha who narrates the back story. She says this is a dark place. It has a portal between the dark world and our world. In the 90s Dream, Widow band was here to record a song, its lead guy Greg found a book here. It was full of dark arts. Greg activated the portal by offering a raccoon's blood. Soon a demonic entity possessed him, it wanted to record its hellish song. Greg killed all his crew members and then killed himself so that song remains unfinished. But it backfired his ghost got possessed and trapped here. The ghost is now inside Dave, it had possessed him. You can do the exorcism by reading the book. There is a chapter on it.
The crew decides to leave this house asap while Rami and Samantha try to hook up. Dave kills them with a saw. Pat and Nate found the book in the basement just below the raccoon's dripping blood. As they grabbed it many demons started attacking them. They ran from there like a Usain Bolt and somehow survived. Dave was finishing his drum section of the song with Taylor. Taylor was scared and fed up with this yet he completes the song. After that Dave decapitates his head with a plate. Pat and Nate found a way to do an exorcism on Dave, from the book. They were beside the pool when possessed Dave tries to attack them.
As Nate chants, verses from the book water in the pool turn green, and a flash of light from the book hits Dave. As he falls into the water he comes out of the possession. The demons vanish. Dave was now free from possession. He says he didn't remember anything after he saw the raccoon. Just then the cap guy, Greg appears in front of him. He was the lead guy and the ghost who was possessing Dave. The rest of Greg's crew members also appear as they were freed from the curse. Greg's ritual had turned them into demons. These guys drag Greg to hell where he will be punished.
These three guys decide to leave this place asap. In a hurry, they forgot to destroy the book. Nate and Pat went to bring the van. For some reason it was not working, Pat started repairing it. Shill and Barbara arrived here in some sort of cloaks which seemed odd. Dave tried explaining everything to Shill when we learn the reason why shill sent this crew here. Shill was an old associate of Greg he knew everything. He wanted him o finish that song, as he believed rock and roll is devil's music. Only the devil can revive it. Shill had lost lots of money due to the decline of rock and roll music. He sent Dave and his crew here to complete the song. After hearing this Dave beats the crap out of Shill. Shill chants something while taking a beating. He says you guys didn't destroy the book.
Barbara charges at Nate, Nate panics and puts the pedal on the accelerator which kills Pat. Van hits Barbara also. The fisk fighting between these two kills both of them. Next, we see Dave getting ready for his solo performance. There was a sinister smile on his face. With this, the film ends. So this was the recently released horror comedy film studio 666. So in the nineties, a band called dream widow was at the villa to record a song. Its lead guy Greg gets a book here. I think Shill placed it there and asked Greg to complete a song from it. As Greg acted on the ritual he got possed by a demonic entity. But still, he had some sanity in him, hence he killed himself. His and crew member's ghosts got trapped here, they turned into demons. Greg's ghost wanted to finish the song by possessing Dave.
When Pat and Nate did the exorcism it liberated every ghost including Greg's. But the book was still there. Hence at the end when Shill chants, the devil himself possesses Dave. That's why at the end Dav gave a sinister smile. The name studio six six six symbolizes many things. the band had six members. the nineties band also had six members. The devil stands for six six six is well known. In real life, Foo Fighters is a real band founded by Dave Grohl, the main protagonist of this film. Overall this is a great horror film to watch.
