The film starts in a rehab center where we see our lady named Derby. It was Friday afternoon, she came to know that her mother had a brain stroke and was admitted to Lake City hospital. A friend of hers told her this news, Dabi was in pending she asked the rehab manager to release her but the rehab manager refused. Last week Darby tried escaping from here by making a fake excuse. Darby demanded to talk with her doctor to get permission. since it was Friday afternoon the doctor was unavailable. She got frustrated.
At night she sneaked into another occupant's room and literally blackmailed her. she had a private mobile. Later she talked with her sister on phone. Her sister Devon was clearly in panic as their mum's condition was critical. Darby asked her to get permission from the doctor here so that he could release her. Devon refused that by saying I don't want you here, I can't handle two problems at a time. Clearly, Darby was an addict and had a bad history.
But Darby had made her mind. She stole a screwdriver and a hammer and forcefully broke the entrance and escaped from here in Miky's car. She hotwired the car. There she found Miky's mobile and a small packet of drugs. Meaning the rehab center guy was selling the drugs. After driving for a few minutes she texted her sister and informed her about escape. After furthermore minute weather got worst, Devon texted her back and again reiterated her not to come.
A cop arrived here and informed Dabby that the interstate is closed and that she can wait out the storm at a nearby visitor center. When Darby gets to the visitor center, there were four other people there. Ed and Sandi, a married couple headed to Reno for gambling. Ash, who said he’s headed home. There was another nervous-looking guy called Lars.
Darby uses the washroom and tries to call her sister again but there was no mobile signal. Hence she goes out in Strom, to try her luck. Here she suddenly heard the voice of a kid scream from a van. In one of the vans parked there, a girl was kidnapped and tied. Darby was horrified to see this. she tried to rescue that girl, who seemed sick. But the car was locked. She got scared as well as one among them at the center was a kidnapper.
She quickly took a snap of the license plate. It was from Nevada. Later she quietly entered the center and pretended nothing happened. Later everybody started playing cards to pass the time. Darby started talking with everyone to know where they are from and where they are headed. On that basis, she would know who own that van. Pretty smart I guess. Ed said he was a marine. He and Sandi are heading to vegas. Apparently, Sindi arranged a surprise vacation.
Ash was heading home in Denver. Lars said that he is headed to Battle Mountain in Nevada. Just then Lars lost the game in cards, being a weirdo he angrily lashed out at everyone. Everybody was taken aback, they calmed him down. Darby got her confirmation of this type of behavior. She made the excuse of washroom and quickly tried sending a message to 911 with a license plate image. Due to a signal problem, it got stuck in a queue.
Here she decided to help that little girl. With the help of a box cutter and hammer lying there, she made an opening and went outside. she quickly sneaked into the van started freeing that girl. Suddenly Lars entered the van and was lashing out at everyone for losing the game. We learn that the girl’s name is Jay and he was taking her to someone named “Uncle Kenny.” The van was too cold, Jay was sick and hungry, she started screaming. Hence Lars started the van engine for some hot air. He told Jay that he will bring some snacks.
Darby was hiding under the blanket all along, as soon as Lars went out she gave the box cutter to Jay and told her to cut her loose. She assured her that she will bring some help. Ed started suspecting Lars. He thought something is wrong with this guy. When Lars came back with snacks he saw footmarks in the snow leading to the center. He got horrified, his little secret was out now.
Darby quickly ran back to the center and entered it from the backside. She tells Ash what she’s seen, and asks him to help her stop Lars. Ash agrees and finds a nail gun. Apparently, a part of the visitor center was under construction. Darby returns to the van and pulls the tape off of Jay’s mouth. Jay tells her that two men kidnapped her, and Darby realizes that Ash was in on it, too. Ash and Lars arrived near the van from the front end. Darby quickly sneaked out into the bushes. These two guys started searching, this made Ed's suspicion even deeper. He wanted to go out and check but Sandi stopped him. Ash saw Darby going in from the backend so asked Lars to follow her.
He chased her from the front end. Finally, he caught her in the bathroom and threatened her with a gun. He said, Jay's dad is a big shot tech billionaire, we just wanted to extract money from him. She has an adrenaline condition, she needs an adrenaline shot. He put the gun on Darby's head threatened to kill everyone if she opened her mouth. Without any option, Darby agreed to keep quiet. Everyone again started chit-chatting at the table. Ash said Darby's dad was also in marine and he committed suicide. Ed sympathized with her and kind of scolded Ash for being insensitive. This pissed off Darby and she moved away from there. Ash, followed her by making an excuse of apologizing to her. Just suddenly Lars saw Jay had escaped from the van, she was shivering in cold. She escaped into the bushes. Lars again went outside to find her but she was no were. It was dark, heavy snowfall started. He came back to the under-construction area where Ash was holding Darby at gunpoint. In this ruckus, Ash's van's key fell. darby sneakily grabbed it.
These three went out to find Jay. Darby started shouting Jay's name. Lars was visibly in panic mode. He was worried that he will say to uncle Kenny if they lost Jay. Darby now understood their plan. These guys were no kidnappers but child traffickers. They were going to sell Jay for money. Darby took the advantage of a small cliff and darkness. She pushed these guys, started running from there. Ash in panic fired the gun. Ed and Sandi heard this, Ed was sure by this time that something is wrong. They too came out and started searching. They found the Jay laying on snow. When they brought her in, Darby also rushed. She closed the door and narrated the story. Ash and Lars appear outside the center, and Ed bluffs that he has a gun, but he doesn’t.
Ed tells Darby to hide the keys to the van somewhere, and she does. Ed barricades the door. As these guys were arguing with Ash, Jay woke up. She identified Sandi. Yes, Sandi was in on this as well. She was Jay's house Maid, Mrs. Lowery. In a flashback, we see that Sandi had been mistreated by Jay. Being a kid she used to make her dance on tik toc. Sandi helped the kidnappers capture Jay, believing it was for a ransom and that she would get a cut of the money. Ed was in shock hearing this, the surprise trip was actually to collect the money. Ash and Lars spilled gasoline on the main door to scare Ed, they were about to burn the whole building. Sandi quickly sprayed chili spray on Darby and shouted at Ash that Ed has no gun. Sandi lets Ash and Lars enter the visitor center. She administers Jay's medicine. Here Darby tells Sandi the truth. This was never about a ransom; the kidnappers were caught up in a child trafficking scheme.
Ash demands keys from Ed. Sandi tells him that Darby hid them somewhere. When Darby refused to hand it over he just shoots Ed and Sandi. Both were dead on spot. Poor Sandi, Karma is a bitch. In between Jay sprayed that chili spry on Lars. Ash grabbed Darby and nailed her hand to the wall. By this time weather was somewhat ok which made mobile signals back online. The 911 message went through. Ash saw this. Devon's message also arrived. Darby's mom had passed away. Ash then threatened to nail Jay if Darby doesn't give him the keys. Darby finally told him where she hid the keys. When Ash went away to get the keys, Darby asked Jay to switch off the lights. Lars was shaken with all this, he was not seeing clearly. When Jay turned off the light, Darby took the drugs. This made her numb. With the help of a hammer, she took the nail from her hand. She quickly attacked Lars, grabbed his gun.
When Ash came back he pointed his nail gun at Darby. Darby asked him to drop it. These two were arguing when suddenly Jay attacked Ash. Ash fired his nail gun which directly hit Lars in his head. He died on spot. Darby and Jay quickly started running away from here. 911 had already dispatched police which was on its route. Raging with vengeance Ash came out and lit the fire to the building. He fired randomly at Darby's car which caused an accident. A police officer arrived at the same time, he asked Ash to raise his hand. As soon as he did that Darby fired at him, the bullet just missed him. officer without thinking much fired at Darby.
Ash collected Darb'y gun and fired back at the officer. Then he nailed a few nails. He wanted to give a painful death to Darby hence, he bent down and placed the gun on her neck. Struggling Darby quickly took her kife out, poked directly into Ash's neck. Finally, the psycho criminal died. Later she crawled towards the police officer and asked for help on the radio.
After this, we see Darby back at the rehab center. She was 48 days sober. We see a drawing from Jay, meaning she also survived. A nurse tells Darby that she has a visitor. It’s her sister, Devon. The sisters accept at each other.
This was a wild wild ride. The film is all about the value of life. Darby was an addict, she never valued herself. Her mom tried her best to bring her to normalcy but she failed. The sudden death of Ed, Sandi, Ash, Lars, and Mom made Darby realize how precious life is. Hence this time she completed her program. As a reward her sister finally accepted her. The moral of the story is life is precious.
