Today I am going to ring cap and explain a recently released horror film called torn hearts. In the beginning, we see a band of two sisters Hope and Harper. The year is 1993, they were giving an interview. Hope was the singer and Harper was the writer. They recently reached the number one spot on the country music chart. They were telling how they come up with their songs, and how they manage their difference and relationship. Later we see a glimpse of a mansion, a lady was screaming in pain. Someone's blood flows from a closed door.
Now the story moves to the present day. We see a band of two girls by the name of torn hearts performing in Nashville. Leigh was the main singer and Jordan was the writer cum harmony singer. These were struggling singers. A guy by the name of Richie Jones was this band's manager. Even though he was nearly Leigh's dad's age yet he was her boyfriend. Jordan and Richie always had their share of creative disagreements. Torn hearts were performing at a local bar, the audience love it. But Richie was disappointed as they choose a different song than the one agreed. He was pitching these girls to one famous country singer Caleb Crawford whose band was apparently looking for female singers. For diversity and stuff. Richie introduces Caleb to these girls, he really liked their performance. Caleb asks Jordan for drinks and she says yes. Caleb took her to his house and they hook up. Richie doesn't like this idea, he complains to Leigh that Jordan is a loose cannon. He worked hard for this pitch hence he didn't want to lose due to Jordan's curiosity. Leigh says she is not perfect, nobody is, and we have to work with what we got. Leigh and Richie also argue about this and Leigh leave for her house.
At Caleb's house, Jordan saw harper ditch and Caleb's photo together. Caleb says the harper team contacted him for a duet, they practiced for a few times and then all of a sudden Harper canceled the program. He also tells Jordan about his label, they were not really looking into hiring female singers. It will be all-male singers this year. The label spread the rumor to get a glimpse of new promising singers. Jordan was disappointed but she was not angry at Caleb. She asks him about harper Dutch's address, she thought Harper might be interested in recording a song with torn hearts. Caleb was reluctant, he warns Jordan about Harper, and his experience with her was pretty bad. But Jordan was desperate, she thought harper maybe her shortcut to fame. Hence she forced Caleb and took the address.
After arriving at the house Jordan explains everything to Leigh. Leigh was excited as she was a huge ditches sisters fan. She even had a portrait of them. The next morning these girls ditch their recording and went straight to that address. Harper Dutch house looked rugged, paint worn out, mold and grass everywhere. Jordan on calling call gave her intro and asked for a meeting. Harper was not interested, she threatened them with the police. Just then Leigh cast her magic and narrated her story. How Dutch's sisters inspired her, how their struggle helped her keep pushing, and stuff like that. These guys said they want advice from Harper for taking their band to next level. Harper finally opened the gate. At the house, Leigh gave a pie to Harper thinking that it was her favorite. Harper was a bit angry seeing this, she said it's my sister Hope's favorite. Magazines quote it wrong, don't believe everything they write. Jordan seizes the opportunity and asked Harper about recording a song with them. This made Harper furious as these two easily tricked her. Yet She was observing them, she dragged them to her studio and asked them to play a song. She gave Leigh her sister Hopes ring implying she was seeing Hope in Leigh. Jordan and Leigh played the dutch sister's famous song high highs and low lows. Harper liked it, She agreed for a record. But here she said yes in a weird way. First, she broke the guitar Jordan was playing, and then she tapped on her butt. This looked weird to Jordan but for Leigh, it was dream come true. She seemed blinded in her happiness.
Harper offered drinks for this new collaboration. Leigh got the call from Richie who was worried sick as these two bunked the recording. While Leigh was explaining to him on the phone Harper and Jordan started talking. Harper implied that Jordan is the real deal, a hard-working one, she is the one who writes melodies and composes music. But Leigh takes all the credits as she was the lead singer. Jordan didn't agree with that fully and said we both work hard. It seemed Harper had contempt for her sister Hope for taking all the credit as she was the leading singer. Just while talking Harper stabs a knife at a bug that scratches Jordan's fingers. Later these three loosen it up, drink booze, sing and dance.
The next day we see Jordan waking up in one room, she had new clothes and had no idea of how she ended up there. She starts roaming around the house in shock and horror and stumbles upon a door through which she heard Harper's voice. Upon looking through the keyhole Harper was talking to Hope as if she was alive. She says Leigh is like you, she sings like you, behaves like you, it could work. Just then Leigh knocked on Jordan's back which scared a hell of her. Both of them were confused about how they are in these dresses. Harper then came out of that room and told them that they were wasted last night. Hence she changed their clothes and took their phones and car keys. For Jordan it all seemed shady, she wanted to leave but Harper said she would love to record a song with them. First, she asked them to prepare breakfast for her. This gave super creepy vine to Jordan, she wanted to run from here like Usain Bolt but Leigh stopped her. Richie told her that since Jordan slept with Caleb the deal is off the table. They didn't have any other breakout option so she was insisting on staying here. Jordan never mentioned the real reason for the deal cancellation to Leigh hence this also angered her. Harper's kitchen was full of rotten things, there was not much good food. When they offered plain bread veggies as breakfast Harper threw the plate on Jordan's face. Luckily she ducked. Jordan was scared like hell after this, she was convinced that something is wrong with her. She started running but Harper closed the main door and apologized convincingly.
Somehow she convinced these girls to a stay. Later she took them to her basement private room. There she started a conversation, she says I sense some hidden issues with you. You two are not facing them. When I and hope had issues we used to wrestle a little. Let out all our emotions. Harper suggests the same here, she asks both of them my them to hit each other to let out everything. Jordan was against it but Leigh hit her hard. She asked her to do the same. Soon these two started fighting, Leigh thought Jordan always considered her to be dump pretty face, who takes all the glory. Jordan was against Richie managing the band, she believed that Leigh was in bed with him for other reasons than love. Jordan started bleeding from the nose due to this friendly fight. Just then Richie arrived at the door, he was buzzing. Harper told Jordan to rest in the basement as she and Leigh went up to meet him. But sneakily she locked the basement to keep Jordan there.
Above she welcomed Richie and offered him a new deal. She wanted to make two girls' band with Leigh. Just Leigh and Harper, no Jordan. Richie liked this idea as he always doubted Jordan's potential. Back in the basement, Jordan finds a secret room filled with Hopes stuff. She finds Hope's body parts preserved in a jar, her eyes, fingers, etc. This scares the hell out of her, she quickly grabbed that finger, placed it for scanning and when the door opened she moved out. Apparently, that dead finger of hopes was still working. Later Jordan heard Richie's grand plan of dumping her. In anger, she grabbed Leigh and started putting some sense into her. She says, Harper is clearly sick, and delusional, she made us fight each other, breaking up our band. Let's just leave this house and think calmly. Leigh was not in the mood to listen to anything she was convinced that she had star power. These two started are going again. On the other side, we see Harper offering a pie to Richie. Suddenly she stabs him in the back and kills him. Later she lies to Leigh and Jordan by saying Richie has gone outside to make a call. She does a drama of changing her mind, she now says she will record the song them and work with both of them.
She drags them to her recording room, hands them a lyric of one old song which she wrote years ago when hope was alive. It was a sad song. These three record the song. After this to celebrate and photoshoot their new endure, Harper gives Leigh and Jordan her old fancy dresses. In meantime, Harper picked up the gun and started shooting. These were dumbstruck, confused, and started running. They couldn't get what was wrong with this old psycho lady. Leigh saw Richie's body in the other room. Harper had already locked all doors hence escaping from here was impossible hence these two ran back to the basement and locked it. Jordan furiously taunted I told you so to Leigh. She took and handed over a pocket gun to her which was lying there. Leigh was still in shock, she couldn't believe her favorite ideal could be a killer. Hence she was hesitant to kill her. When Harper came down Jordan attacked her from behind. Leigh fired at her legs. While lying down Harper started narrating why she is doing all this. She says I and Hope were a team. For a few months, our sales were going down. Hope and her not old boyfriend decided to go solo. Leaving me alone. Hope was just the party face voice, I was the engine. This made me angry hence I killed her. It was a sin, I regretted it all my life. I needed to atone. Atone for Hope. When I saw you two, it reminded me of myself and Hope. That's when I decided to kill Jorden. She is like me. When the news gets out that I killed Jorden and myself, it will generate a sympathy wave. Leigh, you will be a star overnight. Harper convinces Leigh somehow and Leigh was persuaded about it by her greed for stardom. she lowered her gun and stood behind Jorden. Jorden panicked seeing her friend's betrayal, she started screaming at Leigh.
suddenly we hear a gunshot and a splash of blood splatters on the wall. It was Leigh who shot Jorden and Harper with one bullet. Jordan also fired at Harper hence she was totally dead. Leigh finally got what Harper was trying to say. To become successful in the art field you need a story, a sympathetic one. Psycho Harper killed Leigh's boyfriend and tried killing her and Jorden. But Jorden saved Leigh by sacrificing her life. Jorden who was fatally wounded was raging in anger. Leigh quickly cleaned her fingerprints from the gun and placed the gun in Harper's hand. She said goodbye to Jorden and left. After a few seconds, we see Jorden with Harper's shotgun, she was wounded but not dead. She fires a couple of shots at Leigh and kills her. In the end, we see Caleb giving an interview. Apparently, he and his crew members came looking for Leigh and Jorden as they changed their minds on hiring. they found the dead bodies and the record which these three ladies recorded. They released it under their label which became an instant hit. Caleb was lying to his tooth to get the maximum benefits. He says Leigh and Jorden were his friends, he knew Harper very well, and they were planning to join his band. etc etc. Lies, lies, and many lies to further his career. With this, the film ends. here everyone acting is great. Especially Katey Sagal as Harper. For 67-year-old lady, she looks fantastic. The script could have been better if they just made Harper a ghost. Overall it's an average horror film.
