Today I am going to recap and explain a recently released found footage horror film called dashcam. Its director is Rob Savage who directed the 2020 hit lockdown horror movie called Host. This film is a kind of sequel to it. At the beginning of the film, we see Annie, who was hosting her, live music in the car. She was a white rap artist, anti-vaxxer, and a hard-core Trump supporter. She used to make rap music from the comments of her viewers. During the entire film, we see her audience live commenting. Many of the comments are funny and mean. The live commenters have done an excellent job of depicting real people. The film is set in a pandemic-induced lockdown and Covid is termed Covic. The government had made masks mandatory but Annie was not wearing one. She believed the virus was a hoax influenced by mainstream media. Annie was living in LA where they implemented strict lockdown. She was heading for London to meet her friend stretch. Annie was always live, we see an insane amount of crosses in her bedroom. The LA airport looked like a ghost area as it was totally empty. After landing in London we see Annie outside Stretch house. Apparently, she had not informed him about her arrival here. Somehow she knew stretch used a keep a spare key just below the flower pot. hence she picked it up and entered the house. There she decided to prank stretch and his wife Gemma, who were in deep sleep. Of course for more views. Annie slowly entered their bedroom and slapped stretch pretty hard to wake him up. Stretch and germs woke up scared like hell, they stared stacking Annie. Due to this live feed stops.
The next morning we see Annie, she was live again. Gemma too woke up she was not happy with this virus called the invasion of privacy. When she have hand sanitizer to Annie one dude commented, Another drone who believes the lies. Since Annie was from America Gemma started wearing a mask at the house and keeping her distance from her as well. When stretch came and hugged Annie, Gemma objected to this as well. She was extra careful with the virus. At the same time, she was getting a lot of hate comments.
Stretch was working as a food delivery guy for a Mobile App company. He takes Annie with him, and both of them make a few rap songs in the car. When stretch entered a restaurant to pick up the food Annie followed him. She mocked the owner for insisting on social distancing. She argued with him over a mask mandate. Stretch diffused the fight and later we see them back at the house. Gemma was not OK with Annie's behavior, she took Stretch to another room to convince him to evict Annie from their house. It was a pandemic, jobs are scarce if people saw their food delivery guy is not following rules then stretch may lose his livelihood. Annie was selfish and annoying. After seeing these two argue, she sneakily took stretch's car keys and left the house for a long drive. She was wearing a MAGA cap in the UK just to piss off the British. By the way, the British welcomed President Trump like this when he visited. Special Relationship Yay.
Back in the car, Annie received a food order on stretch's mobile. She asked her fans to comment whether she should take it or not. Few idiots voted Yes and few said no. Annie being Annie took the order and drove the car to the cafe. No one was there at the counter except for a jar of eggs. She asked her fans to PayPal 20 dollars if they want her eat to this Covic egg. She received the money hence without the owner's permission she just ate it. Just then the owner came and says the cafe is closed. She was sorry as she didn't cancel the order in time. As Annie was heading back owner asked her whether she can do a job for her. She had an old lady with her by the name of Angela, the job was to drop Angela at the given address. Annie was not ready for this as the lady was weak and seemed sick. But the owner offered her plenty of cash which changed her mind. By the way, this owner was the same lady who seance coordinator in the 2020 film host.
Some of her fans were commenting like. just leave her on the side of the road. You have already got the money. Very mean guys. Annie places Angela in the back seat and was ready to leave. Angela was not cooperating, she tried to escape from there. Annie locks the door and drives. After driving for some time Angela shitts in her car, Annie saw this and took her to a nearby restaurant. As Annie was cleaning her she saw the tattoo of Ariana Grande on her. This surprised Annie. Just then she heard a lady's voice calling Angela's name. The lady breaks into the toilet room and attacks Annie. Here the room power surge happened, Angela's eyes turned white and Annie fell down. Next, we see Angela outside in front of a TV, the lady was behind her trying to communicate with her. Annie was hiding behind the counter and seeing all this. Suddenly the lady was thrown out, she landed in front of Anne. Here fans were commenting like some Mayday, Mayday. Some crazy Satan shitt going on. Annie tried to run away from here like Usain Bolt on steroids but that fallen lady again attacked her. This time Annie hit her back and ran.
At her car Stretch was there as he found her through her live feed. Angela was already in the car, she was surprised as to how she got there. By this time Annie's live stream was going viral and stretch was pissed off. As they were driving she tried to explain to him. Stretch parked the car sideways, and dragged Annie outside, they were arguing. We see Angela inside, blood started flowing from her mouth. Suddenly she disappeared from the car. Fans on the live feed went ballistic. Later stretch started searching for Angela but she was nowhere. Fans did a little prank on stretch by saying someone is behind you. Finally stretch found Angela, she was on a tree. Stretch was scared hence he ran from there to his car. Fans started commenting very meanly about him hence he went back there to rescue her. As he was climbing up the tree he fell down, and with this, the live streaming ended. We see Angela flying down, implying she had some powers or she may be possessed. After a few minutes, we see Annie running towards Stretch, someone was firing at her. It was the same lady who attacked her at the restaurant. Annie and stretch ran from her, they hid themselves in a wan.
After that lady left Annie turns on her live feed. They move back to their car, as they turn on their light Angela was right in front of them. Stretch was scared hands straight back at the car while Annie went out to bring her back. Annie brings her back and removes her mask. Angela's lips were sealed, she started screaming and then torned them open. Just then a fast-moving car crashes at Annie's. One guy was stuck in the windshield, Annie tries to help him but a large blast at his car kills him. This guy was coming from his marriage, his dead wife was also there. When Annie goes to check on her, the airbags suddenly open which freaks her out. Stretch was in shock, when Annie tried talking with him Angela jumped on her. She bit her neck. Stretch in panic attacked Angela and knocked her down. He rescued Annie. Later he started asking lift from an incoming car. The incoming car was of that lady who was attacking Annie all along. She ran the car on stretch, she started searching for Annie. Annie was horrified and scared seeing all this. She sneakily tried to run away in that lady's car. But the lady saw this, she started firing at her which caused another car crash. The lady wanted to kill Annie, but stretch snatched her shotgun in time.
Now she tries to snatch the car keys so that Annie could not escape. Annie breaks her hand by rotating it under the staring wheel. It got stuck. By this time the live stream was viral. One journalist with GB TV asked permission to use this clip on their news. Alas, Mainstream media. Upon asking why she was shooting at her that lady says Angela is her daughter. She wanted to take her home. She shows her mobile where she was with her sixteen-year-old daughter and she had the same Ariana Grande tattoo. Here the question was how she turned old and how she had that powers. Why she was behaving like this. We see Angela running towards these guys, that lady in the love of motherhood beaks her hand completely and ran towards her. Annie and stretch shouted at her not to go but the lady didn't listen. Angela without any feeling snatched that lady's head from her body. To me, it seems a clear case of possession. Annie and stretch ran from there to the woods like hell. They got separated. During this chaos, the live feed turns off. We see stretch entering a carnival-like setup, he was following the blood trails. He found Annie there and woke her up by slapping her hard. Annie was pissed about this but it was her own medicine. While leaving from here, these two enter the mirror maze like a place where they lost their way. Suddenly Angela appeared behind stretch, she attacked her and removed his jugular from his neck. Stretch was dead on the spot. Annie was horrified, and she ran from there. Later she hijacked a car and as she was driving fast Angela was flying right behind her.
During this time the dash Cam was off hence we miss a few colorful comments. Angela crashed this car again, as she tried to bite Annie, Annie fought back. This time it was a life or death situation for her hence she went all in. She tied Angela with seat belts and put a plastic bag on her face. Annie again started driving, Angela this time crashed the car into a lake. Annie held her breath underwater, kicked the door, and came to the shore somehow. Angela rose from the water with ease. She indeed had some fearsome powers. After taking a rest for a few minutes Annie ended up at a building. Apparently, it was the same address where she was supposed to drop off Angela. She entered the building where it seemed abandoned. As she moved to another room she found a few people in a trance state. Right in front of her eyes they all slit their throat and killed themselves. From all this, it's clear to me that this place is like a cult. Just then Angela came from nowhere she started attacking Annie. By grabbing a knife lying there Annie pierced Angela's mouth. As she breathed a sigh of relief by thinking this young old lady is dead finally, we see a creature coming out of Angela's mouth. Annie cursed her bad luck like hell and started running again. She ended up in a parking lot with lots of abandoned cars. She took a keyboard from one car. As she was leaving, an alarm from one car got triggered.
The creature followed this voice and started attacking Annie. Finally, Annie beat it with her keyboard and killed it. Killing it without the human body was easy it seems. Annie was exhausted after all this, she jumped in a car, switched on her dashcam, and started driving. Her fans again started toxic comments. With this, the film ends. Annie gives the credit in a weird rap song. So this was the film dashcam. To be honest, when I watched this for the first time I didn't know what the hell was happening here. I watched it three or four times and then understood it completely. It's real horror, scary movie but not for everybody. This footage type of film can give migraine to people who have not seen similar movies. Bloomhouse made similar franchise movies like paranormal activity. Annie was not a likable character who remained unlikable till the end. She and her fans represented typical 21st-century idiots who find conspiracy in everything. Annie's idiotic behavior killed her best friend. Anyway, this is easily a good horror movie of the year.
