Today I am going to recap and explain a recently released marvel mega tv series She-Hulk. In the beginning, we see Jennifer Walters a.k.a She-Hulk in a law firm. she was practicing her closing argument with her colleague Dennis and paralegal com friend Nikki. Apparently, this was her first case hence she was nervous. Nikki thought her mock was perfect and advised her to stick to it. If it doesn't seem to work then she can Hulk out anytime. Yes, Nikki knew about Jenni being She-Hulk and Jenni had some contempt for her superhero powers. She wanted to shine as her. Now she starts narrating her backstory, how she became a She-Hulk.
A few months back Jenni was traveling with her cousin Bruce Banner on a road trip. Bruce was in his human form because of a device he invented which allowed him to switch between Hulk and human form easily. Tony stalk helped him with this invention. As these two were talking a Sacarrian airship attacked the car which causes a deadly accident. This is the same ship that belonged to the grandmaster in Thor Ragnarok. Jenni and Bruce were gravely injured and started bleeding. Jenni was trying to get Bruce out of the car where he shouted at her to stay away from him. As he could turn into Hulk at any moment due to this stressful situation. Here bleeding blood from Bruce's arm falls into Jenni's hand which instantly triggers an immune response. She converts into a She-Hulk and runs from there in a panic. Jenni and Bruce had similar DNA where their body can absorb a large amount of gamma radiation at ease.
Next, we see Jenni in her human form outside a rural club in some sort of shock. Her memory was blank, she didn't know how she got here and she was in a mess. She quickly ran into a bathroom and started cleaning herself. Just then a few good ladies saw her saw, they helped her and gave her their clothes. Jenni called Bruce to pick her up. As she was waiting outside few drunk men started harassing her. This naturally angered her, she instantly transformed into she hulk and started beating these guys. Here we also see Hulk's sneaky attack on She-Hulk.
Next, we see Jenni on a Mexican island. Bruce enlightens her here. This was my secret base of operation during blip, here I and tony conducted many experiments and found a solution to reverse Hulk to Bruce to professor Hulk. Since we both share the same DNA it triggered an immune response. It seems your blood is more aggressive in absorbing gamma radiation than mine. I healed my hand with your blood. Jenni was shocked hearing all this, she never liked any superheroes, she just wanted to be a normal human being at all times. But now it was not possible as she was cursed with this fate of being Hulk.
Bruce sympathized with her and says, now you can't go back to your old life. you are a risk to all your loved ones. First, you have to gain control of your Hulk alter ego and manage it. You need training. With no option available Jenni agrees. She asks how long it’s going to take for her to figure out how she can peacefully coexist with her Hulk identity. Bruce pulls out a binder to illustrate that it’s a multi-year process. He puts her through a test, which involved a wall of saw blades inching toward her. Jenni freaked out but she transformed into she hulk and smashed that saw blades. Here the strange thing was she was still Jenni in her Hulk form. This means she didn't have an alter ego, her human mind was in sync with her Hulk persona. She will not go through all the struggles Bruce went through. Jenni thought she could go back to her life now as she was in charge of her Hulk self, not the other way around. However, Bruce brings up the topic of controlling the transformations.
The next day Bruce imparts his knowledge of dialectical behavioral therapy. These two train at many things like throwing a stone, body balance, yoga, and meditation. Jenni excels at all these things, she was basically superior to Bruce in controlling her emotions hence being hulk came naturally to her. Bruce was surprised by all this as it took him years to control his alter ego. Jenni gives a reason for this. Since I am a woman, I have to keep myself in check and maintain my calm all the time, as the men around me are always looking for excuses to demean me. That's why I learned long ago not to be so reactionary. You being a man never learned that and took your own time.
After a couple of days, Jenni had enough of this training as she felt she is ready to control herself. But Bruce disagreed they get into a brutal fight that decimates the forest around them and, finally, the bar that Bruce and Tony built “by hand”. As a gesture of apology, Jenni helps to rebuild it. Finally, Bruce tells her that she can go back to her normal life, thereby accepting that she’s better at Hulking than him. As Jenni drives out of Mexico, we return to the present day. Jenni tells us that she hasn’t Hulked out after that incident. Jenni was arguing her case in court when Titania burst into the room. I guess we will know this lady's back story in coming episodes. Nikki encourages Jenni to Hulk out and stops this villain lady as it was her civic duty. Jenni agreed and beats Titania like hell. After this police arrested Titania. Now the whole world knew about She-Hulk.
In a post-credits scene, Jenni is back in Bruce’s bar and drinking with his cousin. She’s drunk and crying about Steve Roger’s virginity. This leads Bruce to admit that Rogers lost his virginity in 1943. Jennifer then comes out as not being drunk and ecstatic that Captain America is not a virgin. With this, episode one ends. This is by far the most expensive marvel show. The first episode was superb and I will recap the next episodes.
